Questions about Kinni Health & Wellness

Updated: May 12

Hi everyone! I recently chatted with one of my patients and picked their brain about the questions they wished they had answers to before starting their journey with me. Hopefully, this gives you some insight into what you might be wondering about too!

How long have you been doing what you do and what made you decide to do it?

I have been a registered nurse for 26 years, thinking I had a good handle on what it means to be healthy. I grew up with what I thought was a balanced diet, mixing in some salads and veggies here and there. As an adult and then mother, pre-packaged and drive-through meals like McDonald’s became a convenient go-to, especially during hectic times. True confessions, for years I had a huge Diet Coke obsession, love of IPA beer and excess coffee. Juggling night shifts, motherhood, and life responsibilities, I often felt drained and exhausted, like I was just going through the motions. I just assumed that was normal.

My health journey has been quite a ride. I have had 10 surgeries, parted ways with two organs, and relied on countless medications and antibiotics over the years. Physical therapy and counseling for anxiety and depression have all been part of the mix too. This wild journey has impacted me, and my family. I know what it's like to face physical and emotional stress.

I had a very tough time starting in 2018 with severe joint pain, swelling, and extreme fatigue. Despite seeing multiple specialists, all I received was powerful medications that didn’t help, as well as, no real solutions or explanations. Feeling desperate, I stumbled upon something called nutrition response testing, which initially seemed pretty out there for a nurse like me. I was surprised when it actually started easing my pain, bringing back my energy and mental clarity. I was very impressed. Seeing my own daughters undergo amazing transformations after trying it out further solidified my belief in its potential.

That was what caused me to make a big shift in my career towards holistic health, and I haven't regretted it for a second. Diving into the holistic world has opened up a whole new realm of possibilities for me, my family and everyone I see. I have been working in the natural health care world for almost 3 years now, and as a holistic health practitioner for over a year and a half.

What types of clients do you work with?

I work with a wide range of clients, each with their own unique health challenges. Some come to me seeking relief from headaches or migraines, while others struggle with digestive issues like constipation, diarrhea, reflux, or bloating. I've also helped people dealing with hormonal imbalances, experiencing symptoms such as hot flashes, overwhelming fatigue and weight gain. Joint pain and allergies are also common issues. I've had the privilege of working with entire families from pregnancy through adulthood, to address their health concerns together.

What really drives me, though, is working with those battling “autoimmune” or inflammatory issues. I can relate to their struggle firsthand, having faced this as a woman and mother. Through my own journey, I discovered the power of lifestyle changes, perspective and targeted nutrition supplements. It was a revelation to see my body respond and begin to heal itself. As a nurse, I was taught to rely on medications and surgeries, but my personal experience showed me a holistic approach can make a real difference.

What type of training do you have?

In addition to my nursing career, I also have achieved Advanced Level training in Nutrition Response Testing, as well as, training in CellCore Muscle Testing. Honestly, I cannot get enough education in the natural health care world and continually take online and in person seminar trainings to learn as much as I can! I want to learn as much as I can to help as many people as possible.

What if you’ve not worked with somebody that has my condition?

While I've got a lot of experience from my many years in nursing, there are still conditions or situations that I haven't encountered before. I've built up a network of resources over the years. If my expertise and the techniques I've learned don't quite match for your specific condition, I'll consult with other professionals and experts to get the answers. Ultimately, my goal is to help you find the best possible solution, even if it means recommending a different approach or connecting you with someone who specializes in your particular issue.

How different are you from the regular medical doctor?

I have lived most of my professional life in the medical field. I have also been a patient, mother and family member of others, through their health journeys.  I've really gotten a good feel for how things work, or don’t work, in the medical world.

I am the first to tell you, there is a place for the medical world, especially in emergencies. For example, if I shatter my leg in a car accident, I definitely want medical experts on my side, helping to fix or repair the issue. But there is a place where the holistic approach does a better job. In the holistic world, we are not just about treating symptoms with medications; we dig deep to find out why your body has the symptoms in the first place.

My vision is to bring the best of both worlds together. I want to meet you where you are at with your medical issues, then work together to get your body on a healing path from the inside out.

What exactly is a nutritional approach to wellness?

When talking about a nutritional approach to wellness, you must think of food as medicine. This is an important concept to understand.

I look at your body through a nutritional lens, using my knowledge base and a non-invasive holistic testing method. This helps me uncover any underlying issues that might interfere with your body’s ability to heal as it was intended to.  I do not diagnose, treat or cure anything. Instead, I simply identify where your body's feeling the stress. Could you be missing key nutrients in your diet? Is there something blocking your cells from working well?

Simply put, I find where the body has stress, what the stress is and then what the solution your body needs to heal. This will lead to the development of a custom plan for you that may include some specific lifestyle changes, the addition of specific nutrients your body needs, and most of all, empowering you with knowledge about how to support your body's needs in your day-to-day life.

What type of personality do you work best with and what’s expected of me?

Truth with grace is my policy. Sometimes, the truth isn't easy to hear, but I firmly believe it's what is needed to make the changes our body needs to heal.

I am very passionate about what I do. I get excited about the little victories and the big breakthroughs. So, if I'm jumping for joy over something you think is small, just know it's because I'm genuinely thrilled for you.

Be committed to change. This is your life we're talking about, and if you're not feeling your best, it's time to make a change. I'm here to guide you, but you've got to be ready to put in the work. If you can work toward making changes, then we're going to make a great team.

What type of client should not consider coming to you and working nutritionally with you?

For us to work well together, there are a few things to consider.  First, if you are expecting me to do all the work while you sit back and watch, we might not be a fit. This journey to better health requires both of us to be all in.

Next, if you're the type of person who gets easily frustrated or defensive when I suggest changes to your diet or lifestyle, we might hit some roadblocks. I'm here to help you, not to force you to change, but it's important to be open to new ideas.

Finally, if you're not willing to approach this with an open mind and instead rely solely on Dr. Google for all your health advice, we might not be the best match. I prefer to focus on personalized care and practical solutions, not a one size fits all approach.

What results can I expect if I work with you?

Think of me as your guide on this journey to better health. I have a skill where I read the reflexes in your body, helping me pinpoint areas of stress and figuring out how to address them so your body can start healing.

I'll give you all the guidance you need to make the necessary changes, but results will not happen overnight. It took time to get to where you are now, it will take some effort to turn things around. If you are dedicated to follow your custom plan, I'm confident you'll start seeing some positive changes. It's all about teamwork and commitment, but I'm here to support you every step of the way.

Can I contact some of your clients to see what it’s like to work with you?

There is a spot on our website where you can check out testimonials from folks who've worked with me. It's a great way to get a feel for what it's like to team up with me without compromising anyone's privacy. So, feel free to browse those and see what others have to say about their experiences!

Do you work with children?

I LOVE to work with children, even before they are born! It is a goal to help get the healthy habits into the kids before they become the challenged adults!

How quickly can I expect results?

Transforming your health depends on a couple of factors; how committed you are to making changes and the current state of your health. It takes time and effort. We have to first address the foundation, the basic function happening in your body, to be sure you are in the best possible shape to start making those changes. That might mean a couple of months of fine-tuning and getting everything aligned just right. After that, we can move into a more observational phase where we focus more on specific areas that are under stress and see how your body responds. It is a process, but with your commitment and a bit of patience, we'll get there!

How can I be confident that your program will work for me?

I have been blessed to witness countless health transformations in people that never thought they could not only feel better but actually heal! They are now feeling better than they have in years. And that's what gives me confidence in my program. I've seen it work firsthand, and I truly believe it can work for you too, if you're ready to put in the effort.

So, what does it look like to work with you and what does it actually entail?

First, we start with a discovery call to see if we're a good fit. If we're both on board, we'll move forward with a new client consultation. During this session, there is an evaluation of your health history to understand your personal story and needs.

Next, using a non-invasive approach, I figure out where your body is under stress, what the stress is, and what can help you. Based on all the information, I will develop a personalized program just for you. It's like having your own roadmap to healing!

From there, it's all about progress! We'll work together to prepare your body for the process, clean and rebuild it, and progress to a maintenance phase where you are actually healing from the inside out! Through the process, we'll keep an eye on how your body's responding, making adjustments as needed. The most important part is to make sure you feel supported and empowered every step of the way.

Will you put me on a weird diet where I have to give up all my favorite foods?

The goal isn't to put you on some strict, weird diet that makes you give up all your favorite foods. Instead, we'll focus on what your body is indicating causes stress through the testing. While we may talk about making some changes to your diet, it's not about completely overhauling everything you eat. It's about finding a balance. We will also look at other aspects of your lifestyle, like what you have contact with in your environment, to see how we can support your overall health.

How long will it take for me to feel better?

It really depends on a couple of things, like what's happening in your body and how it's responding to the changes we make.

If your body is not dealing with too many issues or outside stressors, you might notice improvements pretty quickly. But if your situation is more complex, like mine was with years of medications, surgeries, and various health issues, it could take a bit longer to untangle everything and get you feeling your best.

So, until we get a better picture of what's going on in your body, I can't give you an exact timeframe. But rest assured, we'll work together to figure it out and get you on the path to feeling better!

Do people ever continue working with you after they’ve had success with their health?

Absolutely! Many people choose to continue working with me even after they've seen success with their health. It's like once you start feeling better, you realize there's even more potential for improvement and overall wellness.

In this phase, you're basically maintaining all the amazing progress you've already achieved. We'll touch base every 1-3 months just to ensure everything's still running smoothly. With all the toxins and challenges in our world, having that support to make adjustments, as needed, can be really helpful.

Do you accept credit cards?

You can pay with any major credit card, and we also accept checks and cash. So, feel free to choose whatever option works best for you!

Do you take health insurance?

We do not work with health insurance plans directly. However, some people have found that their HSA might cover our services. It's worth checking with your specific plan to see if it's included. If you need any assistance with this, feel free to reach out!

OK, I know I need to do something to get my health under control. What is the next step to getting started?

The first step is to schedule a discovery call. This gives us a chance to chat and see if we're a good fit for each other. During the call, you can ask any questions you have, and I'll fill you in on what to expect moving forward in the process. It's a great way to get started and see if this is the right path for you!

OK, you know I don’t know if I’m sure if I’m ready to actually get started. How can I work with you a little bit at a time to see if it’s the right solution?
